Maria Nila is a fast-growing global beauty brand with its headquarters and manufacturing based in Sweden. With a clear ambition to offer sustainable, professional hair care, the company has built a strong international reputation for high-quality, 100% vegan products.

Maria Nila combines innovation with values-driven entrepreneurship, with sustainability and animal welfare at the centre. In our factory in Helsingborg, products are manufactured that reach more than 45 markets – with full control over quality, capacity, and delivery precision.

The problem

Expensive shifts and underused capacity

When demand increased, Maria Nila could not produce enough during regular working hours. Weekend, evening, and night shifts filled the volume but drove up both costs and resource consumption.

At the same time, there was untapped potential in production. Maria Nila needed to understand where capacity was being lost, which losses carried the most weight, and which improvements would have the greatest effect.

“Previously, we knew we had more potential, but it was harder to pinpoint exactly where it lay. With Good Solutions' platform, the losses became clearer, and we could work in a more data-driven and focused way in our improvement efforts.”

Natasa Dinulovic, Team Leader, Maria Nila

The challenge was both technical and organisational. Maria Nila needed more facts, but also a way of working in which operators and production management actually used the information in their daily routines.

The solution

Good Solutions' platform in combination with culture

Maria Nila began using Good Solutions' platform to monitor production, identify losses, and assess how capacity was utilised. The work became more fact-based, covering productivity, downtime, and improvements. Maria Nila quickly saw more clearly which problems weighed heaviest and where to prioritise efforts.

But the improvement did not come from the tool alone. Equal importance was placed on developing the production culture: better data, combined with a strong internal drive to improve working methods, reduce waste, and use capacity more efficiently.

“We could talk about the same things when everyone saw the same facts. We followed up shift by shift, identified recurring problems, and made improvements that were noticeable in production.”

Filip Kichidis, Team Leader, Maria Nila

When management, production, and team leaders reviewed the same clear, visualised data, a shared understanding of the current state was created. This leads to better prioritisation, clearer follow-up, and greater sustainability in the improvement work.

The result

23% higher productivity, same net production. But without expensive night and weekend shifts.

In less than a year, Maria Nila increased productivity by 23%, measured by OEE. The results speak for themselves: Maria Nila maintained net production, reduced waste and resource consumption, and eliminated costly weekend and night shifts.

Instead of paying for additional overtime hours, Maria Nila was able to free up capacity, improve cost control, and create a stable foundation to meet increased demand.

“The biggest difference is that our improvement work has become more concrete. We see what is happening, can act faster, and gain better control over how production develops.”

Productivity increases most when systems, data, and culture align. Good Solutions' platform provided the tool. Maria Nila used the insights to transform their ways of working and production, and can now meet higher global demand without new machinery and without expensive night and weekend shifts.

Maria Nila's results:

  • Eliminated all expensive night and weekend shifts

  • Same net production

  • Reduced waste

  • Increased productivity by 23% measured as OEE

Ready to increase volume and standardise more ways of working

The next step is digital checklists and instructions. They support operators in their daily work, ensure operators perform the right tasks in the right way, and provide a more standardised foundation for continuous improvement.

“The next step with checklists and instructions feels natural. When we can combine production data with clearer ways of working, we create even better conditions for stable growth.”

Natasa Dinulovic, Team Leader, Maria Nila

For Maria Nila, the next phase is about growing in a controlled manner. With higher productivity, less waste, and a data-driven way of working, the company can increase volume without compromising stability, quality, or delivery precision.
