The problem
Excel and subsequent reporting provided too weak a basis for improvement efforts
Svenska Retursystem clearly saw that the existing loss measurement in Excel was not enough to identify production losses. The data was also not strong enough to start and run improvement teams.
Vllaznim Hani, production manager in Mölnlycke, describes the situation like this:” When the shift leader entered production losses at the end of the day in Excel, it did not engage all employees. The input was also not completely accurate, but more of an estimate. Some days, we did not even have time to fill it in. We needed to be able to track the losses, see where they were and understand what we should do to reduce them. Simply put, we needed another solution to reach our business goals.”
Svenska Retursystem contacted Good Solutions after a production manager had had a good experience with the platform from a previous workplace.
The solution
A shared platform created control, involvement, and fact-based decisions
After a reference visit to one of Good Solutions' customers in the food industry, Svenska Retursystem was ready to get started with the platform to handle the increasing volumes the company faces each year.
The company developed a plan to implement Good Solutions' platform at the facilities in Helsingborg, Mölnlycke, Örebro and Västerås.
Employees were involved early and took part in designing both the OEE policy and ways of working. By using the information from the platform in daily morning meetings and in improvement work, the teams were able to make decisions based on production facts. This made the employees an important part of the systematic improvement work.
Today, the platform is a central tool in daily operations.
The result
Higher efficiency reduced both resource and CO2e consumption
By increasing capacity in the production facilities without increasing resource consumption, Svenska Retursystem became more efficient. Fewer resources are used per crate and pallet, which further contributes to reduced CO2e consumption.
Svenska Retursystem quickly saw clear improvements in efficiency. Above all, the operation has built a strong foundation and a production culture around understanding where production losses occur, what the teams do to reduce them, and what results the changes actually produce.
